The Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji ( Dr) Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu has recently marked 10 years on the throne of his forefathers. The Emir was appointed on 30th July 2010 following the death of his father, Alhaji Suleiman Adamu. The Emir was one of the three names forwarded to the Governor for selection, the other two being the Marafan Bauchi Alhaji Abdullahi Yakubu, Grand Khadi, Bauchi State Sharia Court of Appeal, and Chiroman Bauchi, District head of Bauchi, Alhaji Nuru Adamu Jumba. The Emir was ultimately selected Governor, Malam Isa Yuguda approved his appointment on 30th July 2010. He thus succeeded his father Alhaji Suleiman Adamu who spent 28 years on the throne.

The Governor of Bauchi state, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed in his congratulatory message commended the Emir for his visionary and selfless leadership. The Governor remarked when he visited the Emir in his palace to pay Sallah homage to the Emir. “We are here at Your palace to pay you a Sallah homage, my administration will accord traditional leaders their due respect.” The Governor said. “I want to use this opportunity to also congratulate you on your 10th anniversary on the throne of Bauchi Emirate Council. Within the period, we have seen a lot of achievements and development”, the Governor added. The Governor also reaffirmed the determination of his administration to continue to accord and uphold traditional institutions with desired support, respect, and honor.

His Royal Highness The Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman was born on the 14th of October 1970, in Bauchi. He attended Kobi Primary School, Bauchi between 1976 and 1982 and Government Secondary School between 1982 to 1987. He then proceeded to Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic from 1991 to 1995 where he obtained a National Certificate of Education (NCE) and then to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, between 1996 and 2001 where he obtained a Bsc in building technology.

The Emir then started work with the Nigerian Port Authority between 2002 to 2006. He then proceeded to work at The Nigeria-Sao Tome and Principe Joint Development Authority from where he was appointed as the Emir of Bauchi.
