How to Make Dulce De Leche?
There are different ways to making this – from stovetop to microwave to oven. It all depends on your choice and resources. In this article, I’ll put you through 2 different ways to make this using condensed milk and powdered milk. Excited? I hope. Let’s get to it.
1. Dulce De Leche Recipe with Condensed Milk
This is the simplest and easiest to make as you only need just an ingredient. Just 1? Yes, just one. You get time to do other things while they are in the oven.
Ingredient for Making Dulce De Leche with Condensed Milk
Procedures
- Get a can of condensed milk.
- Empty its content into a bowl or baking dish.
- Cover this with aluminum foil tightly.
- Put this bowl or baking dish into a bigger bowl or dish. We’ll be bathing the smaller bowl in it.
- Pour in hot water into the bigger bowl to cook.
- Place this into the oven and bake for at least an hour. The longer, the darker the paste. Yes!
- Remove from the oven, take off the foil and give a quick whisk.

- Whisk this all and leave to dissolve and melt.

- Add in butter and whisk together with the sugar.
- Add in heavy cream and give this a whisk. Bubbles start to appear but keep stirring.

Water: This is to dissolve the sugar.
Butter
Salt: This helps in the same function as sugar in caramelizing and giving a salty taste.
Vanilla extract: This is for added flavour.

Procedures
- In a pan or pot over medium heat, add in water and sugar.
- Allow the sugar to dissolve and leave to cook for 10-15 minutes.
- Give this a stir to avoid burning.
- Notice the color change, thickness, and nutty aroma.
- Add salt to it.
- Add in butter and whisk mixture together. It begins to bubble.
- Add in vanilla extract and allow to cook again.
- When cooked to your consistency and thickness turn off the heat and allow to cook.
- Store in a container or a jar
Note: This caramel sauce takes time to thicken sometimes, I like to add a ½ teaspoon of cornstarch or baking soda to thicken the mixture quickly and to save time of course. But, if you like, you can just keep stirring, you’ll definitely get to the right amount of thickness you desire over medium heat.

Caramel sauce should be served cold and used as toppings in most recipes. Though, this sauce can be left to harden and can be eaten as candy.
From cupcakes to brownies to pies to pancakes and waffles, caramel sauce can be drizzled over the top for added sweetness. In addition, caramel sauce can be added to popcorn for sweetness and even on ice cream.

There is really no special occasion for the confectionary as it can be made any day and anytime. It can be used for breakfast, lunch, and even dinner.
